tekhnē #1 - Sholto Dobie

This first episode is dedicated to the work of Sholto Dobie, who was invited through the tekhnē open call for research projects at Q-O2 workspace for experimental music and sound art in Brussels.

Sholto Dobie Is a UK-born artist who lives in Vilnius, Lithuania. He uses an array of sound sources including home-made organs and bagpipes. He has explored ideas related to folklore and environment as sonic phenomenon and works with site specific methodologies.


Bi-monthly insights into the activities of the European project tekhnē, which started in 2023. The series showcases a selection of artists who share and discuss their work and listen to recorded material. By putting the focus on the user rather than the developer, this project aims to explore the emancipatory potential of technology in music and sound art. Technology as an art of craft, appropriating and transforming existing tools, to imagine multiple ways of creative misuse. tekhnē is a collaborative project, co-funded by the European Union.

Sonic Darts # Hogsmill River Sound Walk

In this episode, an hour long edit of a binaural field recording made by Paul Freeman a week prior to this transmission, walking the length of the Hogsmill River in South West London.

The river is a rare chalk stream, one of only 210 in the world. It springs in Ewell Village and makes its way through suburban nature reserves, crossing under the occasional railway line and road until it joins the Thames at Kingston.

The recording was made using head mounted microphones to record in the binaural method, so for the full effect it's recommended to listen on headphones.


Gwaith Swn's Sonic Darts is a London-based sound art collective presenting new sound works, performances and discussions.

CWCH Collective #9 - Rhapsody in Why?

Knut Aufermann & Sarah Washington, Xentos Fray Bentos, Frauke Berg, Katharina Bihler & Stefan Scheib, DinahBird, dieb13 & Billy Roisz, Anna Friz, and Ralf Schreiber broadcast live from Ürzig, Broughton, Düsseldorf, Saarbrücken, Paris, Vienna, Santa Cruz and Cologne.


During the lockdown, a revolving group of sound artists from across Europe and the US convened live on air with a unified aim: to gather sound-pollen and transmit codified messages to kindred folk, exploring whatever was on their minds. Style guide: Anything goes.

Here we broadcast some selected live works by the CWCH Collective.

The first hour this month begins with the second in a series of sound journeys around the letters SOG. This month we walked SOG around Brighton Pier.

Next up is Daniel Mackenzie with a piece composed for the Dear Serge presents: Sonic Rebellion Now event at 2 Temple Place, London on 15th March, 5pm to 9pm. Daniel will be performing the piece live and there will also be live performances from Ewa Justka and Audrey Chen.


Commissioned new work from contemporary sound practitioners and other audio choices from experimental electronic collective The Spirit of Gravity.

In this episode, Blanc Sceol (Stephen Shiell & Hannah White) invites the audience to listen with the Channelsea river, a recovering waterway in East London and home to the city’s largest combined sewage outfall.


A six-part series by Meira Asher and Stephen Shiell exploring the interactions between transmission, sound, activism and water. Each episode is created by a different artist or group who engage with water politics and the politics of listening through the medium of radio.
