In this episode we speak to poets and veteran podcasters Lizzy and David Turner about You Don’t Know, their collaborative literary, visual and audio series. Co-presenter Theresa Elflein returns bringing an eclectic selection of independent artists found out there in the wild web and collected for you, and Nick Murray scores poems from our recently released anthology H O M E.

Colliding Lines present live sessions, cross-genre collaborations and left-field recordings drawn from the London, UK and international experimental scenes; a long-form love letter to recorded audio as soundtrack, as sound art and as storyteller.

Athens Inner City Broadcast #24 - Manes Neva

This episode features sounds from the beginnings of the recording era in Athens, Greece. Strictly locally found 78 RPM phonograph records from my archive, reproduced using an old HMV gramophone player from the 1920's. Featuring amongst others: Margio Salonikia (Manes Neva), Linda Hanoum, Bay Nadir, E.Lagoudakis aka Lagos, G.Manisalis, obscure Japanese phonograph records from Teichiku and more.

It is very interesting to notice that in the early 20s and 30s many of the records that were produced in Greece were in the Turkish language although they were Greek productions and many times by artists of mixed origin, there were no clear lines formed between the East and the West. Some of this tunes are 'entering the digital domain'' for the first time.

Explorations of the inner city sounds of Athens and surrounding areas through lucid soundscapes and site-specific transmissions.

First Light's Third Space #3 - Ana Quiroga & Ale Hop

In the first half of this month's Third Space show, London-based sound artist and producer Ana Quiroga guides listeners through sounds past and present from her homeland of Asturias, Northern Spain. Recorded in the summer of this year, Ana's mix explores the region's rich folk traditions, industrial heritage, and fierce legacy of anti-fascist action; histories which have etched themselves into the area's beautiful coastal landscape and the communities that inhabit it.

The second half of this month's show was crafted by artist and researcher, Ale Hop. Originally from Peru, Ale Hop began cultivating her unique sonic practice in Lima's thriving underground scene before establishing new roots in Berlin. Her Third Space mix features the vibrant sonic contrasts of Uganda's capital, Kampala, where she recently undertook an artistic residency at the now-legendary Nyege Nyege studios.

Each month, First Light Records invites two artists to take an unplanned journey with a microphone around their city to curate an hour-long mix. Each show captures the unique atmosphere of a city from each artist's perspective, through music and found sound.

Dronica #60 - Dronica Meets Jose Macabra

In this episode, Dronica meets Jose Macabra for our monthly guest mix.

Jose Macabra is an inimitable artist, sound designer, improvised noise creator, producer and a beguiling solo live act.

His work performed in art establishment venues including The Barbican, Tate Modern , BFI and The Photographer’s Gallery among others. Works involving Jose’s sound design have toured major festivals in Madrid, Berlin, Athens, Brussels, Milan, Barcelona and other cultural centres.

Collaboration is at the heart of Jose’s work, be it in a straight-forward club setting or a soundtrack commission for theatre, a body-piercing performance or high art concept work.

Jose presents a two hour granular hybrid mix, blending music from almost hundreds different artists, as well as his music, into a cathartic journey.
