On Dawn Chorus Day, Reveil will make its thirteenth annual day-long loop of earth, travelling west on live audio feeds sent in by streamers around sunrise. Reveil brings us together at a distance around its ephemeral streams from rural and urban places – birds, amphibians, weather and sounds we cannot identify. We have heard from some listening points for a decade. Others not yet. Each stream adds to the detail and diversity of the work.

Vague Wanderings #4 - The Hawkhurst Branch Line ▾
In this episode we trace the ghosts of the lost Hawkhurst Branch Line, which ran through the Kent countryside from 1892 to 1961. By collating site visits, local research, internet scrapes, experimental compositions and interviews, we resurrect this fading space from memory and archive.
The mostly forgotten sights and sounds of the Hawkhurst Branch Line exist momentarily here in dialogue with a fading legacy, as we dig collaboratively into the post-institutional terrain, following where the residual voices and spaces of the past now forge over time with the beautiful Kentish landscape that was left behind.
Live processing and gathered sounds form the basis of this study as we continue to ponder the nature of archiving shifting terrains and the possibilities for occupying, exploring and collaborating with forgotten or abandoned spaces.
Vague Wanderings is a bi-monthly collaborative live show from the 24-26 cohort of School of the Damned, exploring imagined spaces, temporary autonomous zones, collecting field recordings and the fertile topsoil of vague terrains.

I Want to Eat the Earth: A Sonic Almanac From the New School of the Anthropocene # Winter Solstice ▾
This episode was created for the Winter Solstice of 2024, a time of extreme dark or light in either direction, a hunkering down in the wet earth or a baking out in the hot sun. The piece is composed by Stephen Shiell using original material from NSOTA scholars.
With contributions from Stephen Shiell, Rhona Eve Clews, Chris de Sel,** Sk.ye, **Lu(Lu)Lu, Blanc Sceol (Stephen Shiell & Hannah White), Clare Whistler, Michael Timmerman, and Simon McClelland Morris.
The New School of the Anthropocene is a radical experiment in alternative education, away from marketisation and arcane specialism towards co-sensing systems change through creative practice. This is an ecological transmission of DIY ethics, non-hierarchical structures, radical networks, interconnected sensing through sound, text, voice, spoken word, human and more-than-human collaborative practice, patchwork group thinking, and radio art.
