Asphyxia: The "Idiote", the Library Wifi and the Suppressed Safe #4 - Bells ▾
This fourth instalment of Asphyxia begins to interrogate the distractions which beset the British Library Suppressed Safe research.
By focussing and exploring the exact nature of the individual elements in the web of frustration, an experiment in 'drift' ensues, whereby any clues to possible research angles are gleaned, and synchronicities sought. Some brass bells are found in a bin, as well.
Originally commissioned in 2022 as part of Radio Art Zone's tapestry of 22-hour radio productions, this project by Daniel R. Wilson is re-presented here in episodic form. Asphyxia hacks the antagonising systems which thwart and forestall projects (its name also acknowledges the asphyxiating atmosphere of long-form radio when made by a single person). It is a damaged would-be radio documentary exploring the Narnia of restricted access material and gatekept employment.

Dronica #63 - Dronica Meets Jody DeSchutter ▾
In this episode, Dronica meets Jody DeSchutter.
Jody DeSchutter is a multi-disciplinary artist hailing from Canada, now living and working in London. She is one half of BAG, a spoken word and sound duo, alongside her partner Dan Allison. DeSchutter writes and performs in conversation with the immersive sound crafted by Allison, the two merging familiar and unknown, and ultimately building new landscapes and contexts.
DeSchutter practices painting and sculpture in tandem with spoken word and sound, working at their intersections and allowing edges to dissolve. She is interested in exploring these 'in between' and ever-shifting spaces.
In this episode, DeSchutter has collaged some favourite and formative work, ideas, and inspirations in anticipation of two BAG albums currently being moulded and burnished: a collaboration with sound and visual artist Charlie Behrens (BAG X BEHRENS) followed by a collaboration with producer, musician, and artist Laima Leyton (BAG).
Nicola Serra, founder of East London's experimental music festival Dronica, presents new and archival material.

Ràdio Web MACBA presents Probes #2 ▾
In the late nineteenth century two facts conspired to change the face of music: the collapse of common practice tonality (which overturned the certainties underpinning the world of Art music), and the invention of a revolutionary new form of memory, sound recording (which redefined and greatly empowered the world of popular music). A tidal wave of probes and experiments into new musical resources and new organisational practices ploughed through both disciplines, bringing parts of each onto shared terrain before rolling on to underpin a new aesthetics able to follow sound and its manipulations beyond the narrow confines of ‘music’. Probes tries analytically to trace and explain these developments, and to show how, and why, both musical and post-musical genres take the forms they do.
PROBES #2 continues to explore probes into pitch, examining alternative tuning systems based on the naturally occurring harmonic series, opening up a potentially infinite series of customised Just Intonation scales.

Radio Cascabel # Mateo Amaral Mixtape ▾
Mateo Amaral is a multidisciplinary artist who develops his work using techniques such as drawing and painting, three-dimensional digital animation, distortion of video through software errors, exploration of audiovisual noise and production of electronic music.
His research leads him to experiment with hypnotic audiovisual landscapes, drawing parallels between primitive digital aesthetics and the individual construction of the reality model. All his work revolves around "Una piedra negra", an expanded feature film project that produces short films, paintings, installations, virtual reality pieces and live audiovisual performances.

His work was exhibited at the Cultural Center of Belgrade (Serbia), Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, at the festivals ArtFutura, Mutek, Sonar, Robot and Trimarchi, at Artists' Television Access (San Francisco, USA), Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (Spain), Art Basel (Switzerland) and the Experimentation Center of the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires).
