First Light's Third Space #18 - Marara & Hyperdawn ▾
In the first half of this show, Melbourne-based producer Marara captures an impression of her city in her distinctive style of sonic collage; fragments of conversation, found sound, and a curated selection of music from the area come together to form a considered and tender portrait of life in Victoria's capital.
Hyperdawn take the reins for the second hour, with a mix of field recordings, music, and exclusive material that honours the full range of Manchester's vibrant character; flitting between the city's outer marshlands and its bustling centre, intimate home recordings and bass-driven productions.
Each month, First Light Records invites two artists to take an unplanned journey with a microphone around their city to curate an hour-long mix. Each show captures the unique atmosphere of a city from each artist's perspective, through music and found sound.

Ràdio Web MACBA presents Probes #2 ▾
In the late nineteenth century two facts conspired to change the face of music: the collapse of common practice tonality (which overturned the certainties underpinning the world of Art music), and the invention of a revolutionary new form of memory, sound recording (which redefined and greatly empowered the world of popular music). A tidal wave of probes and experiments into new musical resources and new organisational practices ploughed through both disciplines, bringing parts of each onto shared terrain before rolling on to underpin a new aesthetics able to follow sound and its manipulations beyond the narrow confines of ‘music’. Probes tries analytically to trace and explain these developments, and to show how, and why, both musical and post-musical genres take the forms they do.
PROBES #2 continues to explore probes into pitch, examining alternative tuning systems based on the naturally occurring harmonic series, opening up a potentially infinite series of customised Just Intonation scales.

AA+ DRONE OPERATØR RADIØ #6 ▾
In this show, a guest mix by O A K M I L K.
O A K M I L K is Maxim Walker, currently based in Leipzig, Germany. Born in Perpignan, France to a Belgian mother and Australian/British father - he is both a sound and visual artist who currently hosts a monthly radio show on Sphere Radio entitled “Frothed Nucleon’s Squiggly Tunes”, where he plays and talks about super weird and wacky sounds and tunes from all epochs and locations.
Self-released an EP last year called “loquacious frother, madude `;.^)”, and is currently working on composing the OST and foley for his sister’s feature film, as well as a few collaborative EPs and a solo album. He likes oysters, Cities of the Red Night, tamarind juice, cursive handwriting, Bach’s Partitia No. 2 in D minor, Moambe, table tennis, American burger cheese, and squelching his boots in mud.
Now: Imagine O A K M I L K not as a liquid but as a solid drill. A sharp drill that bores into a condensed granite like layer of 1 1/2 hours of pure DRONE OPERATØR material. The drill is composed of diamonds that shine in all colors and never wear out. Submerged into that granite DØ it makes an awesome sound. Why drill at all you might ask? Because we asked him to perforate. :)
