Darius Čiuta, Lithuanian architect, sound artist, born 1966, is an artist that definitely can not be pigeonholed for the marketing purposes of narrative and aesthetic unidirectional coherence, although if you stand between and shuffle through his work you will find a labyrinth of communicating vessels.

His works explore continuously new alphabets spectrums, building an intricate vocabulary of frequencies and densities as translations and transformations (exchange between sound and spaces). Structured architectural approaches with a clear perspective not only invites to what is beyond stritctly personal music but rather emtwines a evershifting method of researching a singular plunge into sound itself.

He self-released many cassettes in Lithuania during the 1990s under the Naj moniker, and was included in the 500 Lock Grooves by Artists LP on RRR in 1998. While Čiuta is known for his noise music during the 1990s, he turned to a very particular electro-acoustic music later on, exploring approaches to musique concrète made from found objects, radio, turntable, tapes and found sounds.

Mona Achache's movie Le hérisson, 2009) about the ”vacuousness of the bourgeois existence”; a novel I had the opportunity to read during last year’s quarantine - definitely not a must but there are some things I definitely like about it e.g. the play between the two narrators and the constant conversations/self-reflections of the characters. Joe and Chanelle’s audio recordings encompass ambient sounds, conversation, experimental composition and improvised instrumental response. Cassette drones, loop pedals, voice and guitar are used to echo, mimic or bend over bird calls, thunderstorms, night sounds, indistinguishable chatter, museum reverberations and urban movement. These moments captured to tape are presented in two halves as an A-side/B-side format.

Enriched by visual counterpoints for each episode, Bruna’s critical eye forms an ambiguous tonal narrative from Jake's method of stumbling into excellence. Mountain, valley, glacier, and urban horizon are presented in stereo format, to parallel the A-side/B-side format.

This program has been made on the stolen lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, we pay respect to the Elders both past and present.
