Midnight BST Monthly on the third Tuesday at 10pm

GOOD NIGHT #1 - Hauntology

Hauntological art can be thought of as having two stages, or layers. The first layer seems to present something that’s in some way idealised – this is often but not always an image involving the past. The second, ‘hauntological’ layer problematises, compromises and obfuscates the first layer, undermining or damaging it in some way and introducing irony into the work, and represents the opinionated viewpoint of the present. While the first layer might express hope and confidence, the hauntological layer contradicts and undoes this by expressing a satirical doubt and disillusionment”. Adam Harper - Rogue’s Foam

Said the sky to the moon, shall we do a dance? I'll wait for you to make the move but please don't wait until you hear - the sound below the atmosphere. Ceylan Göksel and Sami Fitz reach subliminal heights with genre-busting spoken word, ambient textures, sound sculptures, and a different theme every show. We wish you a good night.

Asphyxia: The "Idiote", the Library Wifi and the Suppressed Safe #8 - BBC Radio 4

This instalment is almost entirely hogged by a supposéd radio show broadcast by BBC Radio 4 that somehow plops the narrator's inner psyche onto the airwaves as part of its daytime drama entertainment scheduling. Featuring: frustration, shoplifting and things to confuse Ofcom.

Originally commissioned in 2022 as part of Radio Art Zone's tapestry of 22-hour radio productions, this project by Daniel R. Wilson is re-presented here in episodic form. Asphyxia hacks the antagonising systems which thwart and forestall projects (its name also acknowledges the asphyxiating atmosphere of long-form radio when made by a single person). It is a damaged would-be radio documentary exploring the Narnia of restricted access material and gatekept employment.

This series for Resonance Extra is the first time much of the label's catalogue has been available to hear outside of its material form. It accepts the invitation by Resonance on the basis that none of these sounds are stored. If you want to hear it you need to be able to access the radio at midnight BST every Thursday.

purge.xxx releases music. It has been celebrated by The Wire magazine for its ‘disregard for the music industry, self-promotion and prevailing cultural norms,’ and an ‘ability to elevate distinct works and the obscure artists behind them.’ purge.xxx only releases music physically, unless a digital alternative has specifically been requested by a collaborating artist. It considers even the recording a compromise, but advocates things.
