Aurosion: Eroding Sonic Landscapes with the Internet Audio Cyclotron

This Internet Audio Cyclotron (IAC) spans 15,000 kilometres between London and Dallas, Texas and operates a sonic feedback loop each cycle of which partially destroys the original signal. This sonic erosion causes new textures, artefacts and forms to emerge, akin to an eroded landscape.

For more information on this performance and the artists involved, visit: www.phasechange.info/iac.

Aurosion is a collaborative, long-form performance by Kassia Flux (sound artist, composer and scientist), and Justin Gagen (musician, digital anthropologist and computational musicologist) in which field recordings from locales including the laboratory and the jungle are fed into an auto-destructive, algorithmic and transatlantic feedback loop.

Dingus #2

Episodes 4, 5 and 6 of this landmark radio series.

"It was a shape around something else, like everything..."

Dingus is a six-part radio drama produced by CBS and recorded at the height of the 1943 flu pandemic that swept through Hollywood. Denied of a marquee cast and blighted by a curious obsession with the object that drives its narrative, this innovative and formally-reflexive oddity disappeared almost completely without trace. In 2010 artist Mike Cooter set out to find and rehabilitate this elusive artefact, initiating an 12-year journey that culminates in the re-emergence of Dingus.

Cast: John Dingus: Mitchell Mullen. Male Narrator: John Christian Bateman. Female Narrator: Alexandra Metaxa. Lieutenant Johanssen: Colin Stinton. Veronica Marden: Christy Meyer. Finnegan: Cory Peterson. O’Rourke and Elmsdood: David Menkin. Peterson: Joseph Balderrama. Frances: Kelly Burke. Written, directed and produced by Mike Cooter. Editor and assistant producer: Jim Whelton. Composer: Jobina Tinnemans.

Commissioned by Resonance FM. Supported by The Jerwood Trust, The Elephant Trust and The Henry Moore Foundation.

Mateo Amaral is a multidisciplinary artist who develops his work using techniques such as drawing and painting, three-dimensional digital animation, distortion of video through software errors, exploration of audiovisual noise and production of electronic music.

His research leads him to experiment with hypnotic audiovisual landscapes, drawing parallels between primitive digital aesthetics and the individual construction of the reality model. All his work revolves around "Una piedra negra", an expanded feature film project that produces short films, paintings, installations, virtual reality pieces and live audiovisual performances.

In 2016, he was the winner of the first Virtual Reality award within the ITAU prize for visual arts. In addition to his individual work, he formed the artistic collective Oligatega with which in 2003 he was a scholar in the program of workshops dictated by Guillermo Kuitca and participated in the work clinics of Diana Aisemberg.

His work was exhibited at the Cultural Center of Belgrade (Serbia), Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, at the festivals ArtFutura, Mutek, Sonar, Robot and Trimarchi, at Artists' Television Access (San Francisco, USA), Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (Spain), Art Basel (Switzerland) and the Experimentation Center of the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires).

AA+ DRONE OPERATØR RADIØ #10

Nøthing more to say…

In contrast, we present some Cornelius Cardew (†1981) pieces written between 1960 and 1970.

Cardew’s music of the 1960s brought together ideas from both the European and American avant garde at the time, influencing everyone from Alvin Curran, Morton Feldman and Robert Wyatt to latter-day luminaries like US musicians Jim O’Rourke and Sonic Youth.

An upcoming online performance by the Aonghus McEvoy Ensemble is a rare opportunity for UK audiences to hear the music of this most revolutionary of composers. Irish composer Aonghus McEvoy convenes a group including musicians David Lacey, Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh, Rob Casey and renowned UK improviser/ musician Rhodri Davies to perform selections from his experimental period (1960-1970).

Online performance: October 9th & 16th, 7pm at Lutherhaus & St. Finian's Church, Dublin ///
