2022's edition of the festival was an evening of music and poetry reading at London's iconic Café OTO on the 7th December, featuring performances by members and friends of Naviar, working in the fields of ambient, electronic, and contemporary classical music. Each set is introduced by a haiku selection recited by poets of The British Haiku Society.

minusSPAMminus (SPAM 6) is a work made for radio and of spam facts, + and - regarding spam, personal stories triggered by spam in a material, non-material, historical and emotional manner, all assembled by Jasmina Al-Qaisi and Ralf Wendt with their invited friends and collaborators who decided to respond to the email they sent with the word SPAM in the subject.

This radio work arises from an invitation from Afrika Diva Collectif in Kinshasa and uses a non-linear approach to documentary, creating a circular audio collage with voices and audio accounts of daily life disturbances. We asked everyone and ourselves: how can life minus spam be? What would a life without spam look like?

Continuing our study of combining Pauline Oliveros' Sonic Meditations Pacific Tell and Energy Changes, Tarik Haskic (Slovenia) and Littoral Transmissions (UK) attempt to open up telepathic communication across time and space.

Littoral Transmissions meander through the sonic landscape of the River Lea from Stonebridge Lock to Leamouth. Recordings from the field converge with layers of sound to create an aural impression of the navigation.

Drone Operatør's third session is a wild and interdimensional roller coaster ride through multilayered landscapes of musical styles. Christoff Riedel, a producer/dj from Leipzig and part of platform Cime hits the break after one hour for a little relaxation to admire the scenic view. Mark Vernon explores concepts of audio archaeology, magnetic memory and nostalgia through his sound works. At the core of his practice lies a fascination with the intimacy of the radio voice, environmental sound, obsolete media and the reappropriation of found recordings.

A rich collection of domestic tape recordings; audio letters, dictated notes, answer-phone messages and other lost voices often find their way into his unorthodox soundworlds. These diverse elements are distilled into radiophonic compositions for broadcast, multi-channel diffusion, fixed media and live performances. A keen advocate of radio as an art form, he co-runs and curates Glasgow’s art radio station, Radiophrenia.
