Summer 2025 # The Dream
In partnership, Resonance FM & Extra broadcast a summer’s worth of radical radio featuring new and archival radiophonic artworks, community activism, sound art, experimental literature, documentary, innovative music and more.
A 24/7 live broadcast that's part of The Spell or The Dream, a new project by resident Somerset House Studios artist Tai Shani. The Dream includes programmes from the Resonance FM archive alongside new commissions and archival work by artists, writers, musicians, academics, economists, activists and thinkers, exploring dreaming as a radical act of imagination. At the heart of the project is The Spell, a huge new sculpture taking over the Somerset House courtyard in London: a dreaming figure suspended in time, holding space for crisis, resistance and renewal.
Midnight to 9am: Deep Dream. Echoing the introspective and uncanny world of dreamscapes with audiobooks and music playing overnight.
9am-6.30pm: Day Dream. Archives of artists, musicians and radio stations playing a selection of radio documentaries, sound works, plays, music playlists and conversations.
6.30pm-9pm: After Illusions. Habitable Futures - Live Talk. In a world marked by ecological collapse, colonial devastation and social fragmentation, what does a liveable future look like? Archaeologist and author David Wengrow, poet and activist Scholar Nat Raha, writer and Sustainability Consultant Aja Barber, writer and communicator Yali Banton-Heath.
