SHAPE Artists' Hour ft. Ignatz

Monday 8th August 2016 20:00 - 21:00 BST

SHAPE (Sound, Heterogeneous Art & Performance in Europe) presents guest mixes from its 48-artist roster.

Tonight's SHAPE Artists's Hour features Ignatz - a singer/songwriter from Belgium. He's prepared a mixtape of his contemporary influences, including Blind Own Wilson and Bridget Hayden, ahead of his appearance at Budapest's experimental music festival UH Fest, which takes place over the week commencing October 2nd.

Ignatz's songs stem from a familiar stripped-back folk framework, with delivery recalling the louche primitivism of V.U or Henry Flynt - but inverted, cast adrift, with their cool touch belying a stymied heat beneath the surface. Where Ignatz's fretwork is adorned, it is executed with a refined coarseness.

Ignatz is a participating artist of the SHAPE platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, co-funded by the "Creative Europe” programme of the European Union.
