Mitamine Lab is a culture laboratory based in Mexico City which blends sound archives with contemporary music and literature.

In this episode: Mitamine Lab presents "Rural Sounds From Africa" led by multi-genre compiler Jaro Sounder. Named after the highest peak in Africa (Mount Kilimanjaro), african roots music has been the foundation of Jaro's work since early 2003 when he was commissioned to begin working on a 3 part series for world music label Melt 2000 (now defunct).

The South African label connected with Jaro over the following months sending him hardcopies of all the label releases as well as accessing hours of unreleased demo material.

This hour long special attempts to shed light on some of the rural gems that Jaro Sounder cherished and held onto over the years, giving listeners a tiny glimpse at the sheer magnitude of authentic African musical heritage.
