Mitamine Lab is a culture laboratory based in Mexico City which blends sound archives with contemporary music and literature.
Mitamine Lab presents a mix by Autogenesis Magazine, narratives from the third space between two individuals, both living in diaspora for many years, feeling lonely and afraid in a city where one’s exceptionalism seems to be the only true currency, ready to save the world from all the perceived dangers.
‘This mix came to me with some examples of European avant-garde music. I attempted to make their own attempts relative aesthetic exercises in a complex world, by adding some critical reflection to the tracks, courtesy of Spivak and Bhabha. From there, the mix just grew almost by itself.
One cannot hide from the sense of decay in it, just as processes of assimilation and approximation make themselves inevitable. It is an optimistic mix, in the sense that it bets on a certain happy teleology, assuming that individuals will inevitably find appropriate conditions for associating with each other and for creating new versions of themselves.
