LCC Sound Arts and Design BA 1 Radio Showcase

Four new 15 minute works for radio created by four groups of BA1 students at London College of Communication Sounds Arts and Design.

At 8pm, "Tellurian voices: Do you receive?" - a journey through a collection of sound artworks and instrumental soundtracks presented by Steve Stonhold. Sound design by Elliot Armitage-Woods and Monika Szymborska. Music by Jiachen Li, Nathan Benitez and Harvey Young. Words by Buki Bayode, Jake Slipkovich and Joanna Besarab. Post-production by Kiro Baker.

At 8.15pm, “Is this nostalgia?” What is nostalgia? “Is this nostalgia?” is a portrayal of the idea of nostalgia and its profound ability to make us remember what makes each of us unique – from birth all the way to early adulthood. It looks at what it means to feel nostalgic and displays our ideas, thoughts and experiences of what it felt like to be nostalgic. At 8.30pm, "Just _ Cindy" is a dramatic reinterpretation of Guy Debord's Society of the Spectacle. Representing the stereotypes surrounding the personality of an Instagram influencer, Just _ Cindy is a young woman interviewed by Daniel Carter, host of "Guess Who," a famous radio show, to whom she reveals the behind-the-scenes of her social life and her steps for success. Initially her discourse is verisimilar, but at some point everything collapses into chaos and disruption. And at 8.45pm, "Untitled Google Document No.7: The Nameless and the Solitude of the 11th" - An absurd state of mind, in a surreal framework of time. Aggressive consumerism, raging electronics, surreal soundscapes all pointing towards one truth. Broadcasting the common language to you in the form of radio by us. Realised by James Brown, Stuart Peaty, Vlad Popescu, Dean Powell, Cai Gwilym Prichard, Hywel Pryer, Inaki Ramirez Romero, Ingram Stooke, Henry Storey Angell, Rocco Wallis and Travis Yu. Featuring Kathryn Stanley (voice), Vali Grigorescu (vocals), Marcus Wallis (performer), Hugh Scannell and Oscar Stooke of mosscolly (vocals), Yuri Shibuichi (voice).
