Late Works: By Ear #73 - of Noise Special

Tuesday 13th January 2026 20:00 - 21:00 GMT

The radio counterpart to live intermedia event series Late Works, hosted by founder Joseph Bradley Hill. Each week a new guest joins Joe in the studio to discuss and perform their work. Expect in-depth interviews, live performances, conversations and new event experiments.

In this episode, Joe kicks off 2026 with a selection of tracks made by musicians taking part in the upcoming Late Works: of Noise recordings in collaboration with state51.

Late Works: of Noise is a concept album where a set of artist-built instruments sit in a recording studio for six groups of musicians to come in (one at a time) and create a track (or more) each. The groups have six hours and are only allowed to sample from the instruments and their voices.

Adapting from the first iteration of of Noise, the recordings will be spread over two weeks, with a launch gig concluding each week. In the day between the recording and gig days, a run of limited edition lathe cut vinyl will be cut in-house at state51 by First Cut Vinyl and made available to buy at each launch.
